We can only positively affect the whole wellbeing of our community by immersing ourselves in it and establishing real roots here. And what better way to dig in than with the Sow Healthy Intergenerational Garden! With a few other partners and Comal ISD, we’ve helped organize a community garden that brings together seniors, young kids and volunteers to grow.

Working together, they’re learning about cultivating, harvesting, preparing and preserving their own food. It’s a great way to promote healthy lifestyles and take an investment in the community.

Take a closer look at what’s sprouting at Sow Healthy— get involved by volunteering to help out in the garden. Contact us to get started. Read Less

Resolute Health is more than a group of facilities. It’s a family of people dedicated to the community’s wellbeing. Let’s take a closer look at the people who really make up Resolute Health and spotlight the Director of Community Health Programs, Jennifer Quackenbush.

What do you do at Resolute Health?
I am the Director of Community Health Programs, which means that I am in charge of developing and implementing programs that enhance the overall wellbeing of the populations that Resolute Health serves. One example of a community program that I oversee is the Sow Healthy Intergenerational Garden, which is aimed at building a healthier population by bringing together youth, senior citizens, educators and volunteers to learn how to grow, prepare and distribute nutritious, organic, sustainable foods and increase physical activity for all involved.

We are also currently developing and preparing to launch our Maternal Fetal Health Program and Pediatric Obesity Program, KidStrong, in order to instill the ideas and behaviors associated with life-long wellness at an early age.

How do you help Resolute Health fulfill its mission of community wellbeing?
Well, honestly, that’s what it’s all about. What makes Resolute Health unique is that we focus as much on prevention and education as we do on healthcare and treatment, and these community programs are the vehicles by which we deliver on that promise. A lot of healthcare companies speak the language of self-management and wellness, but Resolute Health understands to change people’s behavior you have to give them the tools and means to actually embrace their own wellbeing. That’s what the community programs are designed to accomplish.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Resolute Health?
I love that we’re really trying to make a difference for the good of the entire population, and I love serving this community. Even though we’re a new organization, we’ve been embraced as friends and neighbors.

What do you like to do for fun?
I love hiking. My favorite vacation was when my husband and I went to Peru to hike the Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu. It was a four-day hike through the mountains, and it was an experience I’ll never forget.

How else are you involved in the community?
I am on the board of The Institute for Public Health and Education Research (TIPHER), as well as the Resolute Health and Wellness Charity Board. Read Less
